I hate the idea of having a pull cord for the light and there is no space for a switch outside the bathroom. Works great 10mins to install.

Alternative to pull switch in bathroom. I am creating a bathroom in one of the bedrooms upstairs my bathroom is downstairs currently. Thecount nov 2 2009 1. The simplest option is to go for a quieter operating switch but looking these up and some websites suggest using a 360 degree occupancy sensor instead or a taptile or just replacing the light bulb with a pir led one. With mood lighting becoming a desirable option within bathrooms the bathroom switch provides an elegant alternative to pull cord operation. As one review on the site mentioned power is slightly reduced but thats not a problem in our bathroom where we have 4 halogens. Quiet action its ideal for many uses including leaving the bathroom light on as a nightlight.
If the manufacturer though ask for a double pole isolation and as above then again a dp isolatorswitch will need to be fitted. I agree it doesnt necessarily have to be a pull switch just because its a bathroom. Recently i was flicking through a magazine and i noticed a shower which had an alternative to the usual pull cord switch from the ceiling. Then unscrew the base unit which is mounted to the ceiling and remove the old unit. Use a small flathead screwdriver to undo tightening screws and pull the wires out. This quiet action pull cord switch easily replaces existing pullcords and is a great alternative to the pull switch in the bathroom and has a quiet smooth switch action.
The quiet light switch for your bathroom is definitely not a pull cord switch. Its just the one globe light in the middle of the room. While soundproofing the bathroom can sound like the perfect choice itll be much costlier and consume much of your time. I suppose the alternative is some kind of selv operated relay or suitably ip rated switch although that might look a bit odd. If a greater load is present the bathroom switch will switch a slave relay or contactor. The mcb will act as an isolator and most shower panel switches will act for the switching.

I bought the dimmer pull cord from screwfix today. Has anyone done this already. Night lights that are motion activated in this case are quiet and great alternatives to the noisy pull switches. Keep it pulled to dim the lights. Or have any better suggestions.
