Torcano there is a little knob on the side of the float switch. Went out and bought a new one wired it up and noticed that one of the wires to the switch had came lose.

Bilge pump won t turn on. I see that way before i would notice water shooting out the thru hull. The bilge pump wasnt working at all. So i bought a speedster and when i got it. Most pumps have an automatic float switch that detects when water is in the bilge and automatically turns on the pump. Cutting out the float switch didnt do anything and the pump keeps running. The float switch is normally installed near the submersible bilge pump itself and often looks like a white plastic block on a hinge though it can be other shapes and colors. This thread is archived. There should also be a switch at the helm to override the automatic float switch enabling you to turn on the pump manually.

You may have to disconnect the battery to stop the pump. New comments cannot be posted. If not then its probably a wiring issue or as you think a bad float switch. If you turn it counter clockwise i believe it should activate the bilge pump. Bilge pump wont turn off. The only way i got it to turn off is by turning the batteries off completely. Its the first heads up that you might be taking on water. A float switch works by floating upwards as water fills the bilge. Took my boat out yesterday everything running fine but when i turned off my boat my bilge pump was still running even when the switch was in the off position.
