What i find is that they do not make a substatial difference in lower the overall temperature but more importantly they make the cooling system more effective overall they most importantly help reduce the hot spots that cause failures in. Water alone will transfer more heat faster than anti freeze will.
Opinion Does Red Line Water Wetter Radiator Coolant Work
Redline water wetter problems. Does anyone have any experience with redline water wetter. As i tried to say earlier it is a surfactant which improves the efficiency of water as a coolant. Water wetter works by reducing the surface tension of the watercoolant mixture. Some basics water is the most efficient coolant you can use in your engine. I run water wetter and its competitive equivlent motormax in my 2 racecars a honda civic and a porsche 944. Says that there should pour a bottle into the radiator and the lower the temperature by 10 20 degrees.
Now i run about 15 20 coolant and the rest distilled water with the proper redline mixture. Unique agent for cooling systems that doubles the wetting ability of water. Temps went from 217ish to 194 steady. The problem with water is that it boils at 212 deg. Does it really work. And a water wetter additive agent will not help nor cure this problem the water wetter is not there to lower the coolant temperature.
It improves the heat transfer capabilities of the water. Water wetter was designed for race cars that are not allowed to run coolant because it can be pretty slick when spilled. Using mostly coolant concentrate and some water my car would overheat. I then drained and did a 5050 mix and still the same so i went and got this water wetter. Attention red line oil customers.
