Of the three black wires only one of them is hot. The old switch is a single pole but it has three black wires attached to it.

3 black wires single pole light switch. I attached one wire to the top side screw on the new switch and the other two to the other side screw. Two of the wires plugged into the back of the switch and the other attached to a side screw. Ive been installing smart light switches throughout the house and have had no issues. All the white wires are capped together and the same is for the ground wires. When i removed the switch plate there were 3 black wires no white or ground. One black wire attached to top screw. I have single pole light switch with 3 black wires. Not sure if i can get help with this but wanted to present my issue. The new switch has a different way to attach.
One on each of the two screws not counting the third screw for grounding which has nothing on it and one in a push in in the back. While a single black wire is pigtailed and connected to the bottom screw non green screw. Another black is in a loop around bottom screw and 3rd screw is in hole next to bottom screw. There are groves on a plate under the screws. When opening the switch i found 3 unmarked black wires as shown here. Im not sure how to reattach.
I am replacing my single pole light switch and noticed when i removed the old switch that there are three black wires coming from the box. I was not prepared for this.
