If it keeps coming out over the long haul you could have a problem. Some ball joints come lubricated for life and are therefore incapable of being greased the paradox though is that they dont usually live very long.

Grease coming out of ball joint boot. There could be a little excess around the ball and spring but still plenty of lube where you need it. Okay so i blew threw my boot for the upper ball joint getting my a arm off. With hands at the 6 oclock and 12 oclock you can try to wobble to wheel. If it is out of the metal nubby fitting then this a good possibility. Grease leaking out is abnormal for tie rods but the boots on them still look to be filled with some grease so it could have been excess. Over time with exposure to the elements a cv boot can become dry or brittle and crack or tear. The boot just has a small tear in it i noticed grease coming out of it as i was removing the a arm. That will test for the ball joint.
