Well seeing as the stock o2 sensor wire is to short to reach the bung on the det t25t28 j pipe i decided to make an extension that i could just plug in with out cutting or soldering. This external air reference is obtained by way of the oxygen sensor signal and heater wires.
Aem 30 3600 Oxygen Sensor Wire Extension Kits O2 Sensor Extension Harness
How to extend o2 sensor wire. I think the koso has an extension cable on it. So to get by this we could cut out a set length of the 20 gauge wiring of the o2 sensor. Plus i think you can buy one from them as well if you dont want to cut. This is the harness wires plug im talking about the denso oxygen sensor i have is still new perfectly fine. Further the signals produced by o2 sensors are fairly low voltage and so the transmission line characteristics of the harness must be correct to avoid signal noise or other contamination. The key thing is to use teflon or high temp insulation wire to avoid heat damage to the wiring.
Replace the oxygen sensor if the pigtail wiring the terminals or the connector is damaged. The o2 sensor is the only thing that draws any power so it needs the 16 gauge wire. So it doesnt matter if you extend the o2 wires or the engine harness wires ohms law prevails. The o2 signal wiring can be 18 gauge. Then we could find the resistance of that set length wire based on its specifications of resistance1000 ft. The wires connectors and connections used on the wiring harness of o2 sensors are made to withstand that heat.
Alright so one of the wires i belive to be yellow has snapped off at the connector with a piece brokem off inside the plug. Proper oxygen sensor operation requires an external air reference. Use 16 gauge wire for all the wiring and you should be fine. Any attempt to repair the wires the connectors or the terminals results in the obstruction of. Inside the o2 sensor connector there is a cal resistor. The best way to do this is to crimp all the connections.
Dont cut the o2 sensor wirecut and splice on the gauge side of the o2 sensor.
